A visual identity for Winona’s, an inviting neighborhood restaurant and natural wine bar serving seasonal fare.

Winona’s is a neighborhood restaurant nestled in north-Bed-Stuy serving seasonal dishes in welcoming environs. Design for the Winona’s brand is inspired by the British chef-owner’s hospitatlity ethos - unfussy, welcoming, generous. The visual identity is decidedly understated, centering around a sans serif wordmark with clean geometry and rounded shapes. A bespoke typeface, derived from the wordmark, creates a sense of continuity across branded materials. A cheerful website shares menus and a peek into the various spaces - the cafe, backroom, and patio areas - for a taste of what awaits, and character-based illustrations in a loose hand add cheeky moments of surprise. Dishes are photographed in composed but casual tablescapes, allowing the plates to shine in a variety of delicious vignettes and inviting scenarios.
